Student A Response to Post #1

Ms. Ciccarelli, here are the answers to two questions, two images of percents seen in real world contexts and one comic I found:

#1. You can use a proportion to solve for a percent by writing the part of the day over the total hours and setting it to x, your unknown percent, over 100.  Then, cross multiply and divide by the denominator to find the percent.
#3. Tim and Moby relate percents to their vacation schedule by looking at the time they have to do activities as percents, or parts, of a whole day.

                      This one is from Kohl's and shows that denim is 30-40% off the original price.
                  This image shows that Lay's Kettle Cooked chips have 40% less fat than regular chips.
